Climate trend: During some days of wintertime temperatures went at -5°C. Springtime started earlier, but on April 21st we had a terrible frost that burned many vineyards in all Europe. In the Musella forest there are a lot of deers that ate gems and fruits, so we had a 15- 20% production shortfall. Droughty summer brought to a earlier harvest, started the first week of August. It was a hard and difficult Vintage, but the quality of grapes in the end is excellent.
Winemaking technique: The bunches, selected and collected in crates, are placed in a special ventilated room to be dried according to the famous drying process (Appassimento). The grapes lose at least 35% of their original weight, thus concentrating sugars, aromatic components and noble tannins. In January, the soft pressing takes place and the fermentation starts at low temperature (13°- 17°); the long maceration allows maximum extraction of the fruit. The wine remains for 24 months in French oak tonneaux and in larger barrels (3500 and 5000 liters); after bottling, it remains to refine at least a year before being released.

Musella’s Wines
Our wines follow an ambitious project, not only because biodynamic, but because we believe that now is the time for the Valpolicella to further exploit its territorial potential, free from market constraints in order to better express all their innate class in purity and taste.
The elegance inherent in traditional varieties is thus considered by us the conceptual center of our wines, the true revelation of a rich and unique nuances and complexities territory, often enhanced with the right depth in the most commercial wines, thus confusing the public perception .
Cherry bark and spice blend in the typical pleasure of Valpolicella wines and find in Musella a sincere interpretation balance, which goes straight to the heart.
